MAYOR-Elect Mariano Martinez of San Remigio town said he will set aside politics and finish the projects that incumbent town mayor Jay Olivar had started.
Among the projects is an extension campus of the government-owned Cebu Technological University (CTU), he said yesterday.
Martinez who ran under the Liberal Party (LP) won against the re-electionist Olivar of the National Unity Party (NUP) with a margin of 2,000 votes in the recent elections.
Martinez said the municipal council of San Remigio authorized Olivar to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with CTU to build and manage a college campus in barangay Poblacion.
However, he said that the one-hectare lot in Poblacion will not be enough for the college since it already houses a sports complex and a skills training center.

Martinez said he instead plans to designate an empty lot in barangay Tambongon, San Remigio for the college.
The three-hectare lot in Tambongon is a property of the local government purchased years ago under Martinez’ second term as town mayor.
As stated in the MOA, Martinez said CTU will manage the school operations while the local government of San Remigio will build the college building and pay for the teachers’ wages for a year./Correspondent Peter L. Romanillos
