House to honor, recognize members on last session day

MANILA, Philippines – The House of Representatives will be honoring its members during the 15th Congress when it resumes session and finally adjourns Wednesday.

The House of Representatives will reconvene at 4 p.m. and tackle unfinished business before it finally draws its third session to a close, paving the way for the 16th Congress which will be opened in July during President Benigno Aquino III’s State of the Nation Address.

The House will also be saying goodbye to 38 of its members who have reached the end of their third term in Congress.

Notable names on the list of third term congressmen who will be leaving the House of Representatives are: Ang Galing Pinoy Representative Juan Miguel Macapagal-Arroyo, Zambales Representative Milagros Magsaysay, Deputy Speaker Lorenzo Tanada III, Bayan Muna Representative Teddy Casino, Albay Representative Edcel Lagman, and senator-elect Aurora Representative Juan Edgardo Angara.

The House of Representatives will also pay tribute to deceased third term lawmakers Ignacio Arroyo (Negros Occidental), Antonio Diaz (Zambales), and Florencio Vargas (Cagayan).

Also to be honored are deceased second term congressmen Erico Aumentado (Bohol), Perdo Romualdo (Camiguin) and Salvador Escudero (Sorsogon).

But also to be recognized are the work of the rest of the first and second term lawmakers, according to House public relations and information bureau executive director Bernadette dela Cuesta.

In a text message to reporters, she said that they will honor “all members… not only the third termers but also the first and second termers.”
