MANILA, Philippines – After a three-month long break, the Senate will resume its session on Wednesday afternoon.
Senate Majority Leader Vicente “Tito” Sotto III was confident that they could muster a quorum even if some senators are reportedly still out of the country.
“Yes, I’m sure,” Sotto said in a text message when asked about the presence of a quorum when they resume session at 3:00 p.m.
An advisory issued by Sotto’s office last week listed at least 36 measures which are up for third reading while some measures were scheduled for interpellation or sponsorships on the floor.
The bicameral committee report on the proposed amendments to the Juvenile Justice Law might be ratified before Congress adjourns sine die on Thursday, Senator Franklin Drilon said in a radio interview.
Drilon is expected to succeed incumbent Senate President Juan Ponce-Enrile when the 16th Congress opens in July.
