A complaint for attempted murder was filed against a man who purportedly punched a Regional Trial Court (RTC) judge outside a church in barangay Zapatera, Cebu City last Sunday.
Charlie Alburo, 40, was brought to the Cebu City Prosecutors’ Office yesterday afternoon for the inquest proceedings.
When presented before Assistant City Prosecutor Rogelio del Prado, Alburo chose not to avail of a preliminary investigation which could have given him a chance to submit a counter-affidavit and refute the allegations.
This being so, Del Prado decided to elevate the case before the Cebu City RTC.
Bail was recommended at P40,000.
Alburo was detained at the Parian police station pending the filing of the case in court today.
Alburo was arrested after he was accused of punching Judge Mario Trinidad of RTC Branch 61 in Bogo City.
Trinidad just came out of Sacred Heart church last Sunday when Alburo allegedly punched him in the face.
Based on the investigation conducted by the police, Alburo was drunk when he approached Trinidad.
Alburo asked the judge if he could cut the tree located near Trinidad’s house.
The judge declined since he didn’t know who owns the tree.
Alburo allegedly got irked and punched the judge./CORRESPONDENT APPLE MAE M. TA-AS AND REPORTER ADOR VINCENT S. MAYOL
