Justine Reign Garrido of the Saint Theresa’s College (STC) bagged six gold medals in last weekend’s 19th VISSA Age-Group Swimming Meet held at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC).
Garrido dominated the 11-12 years old age category by winning all of her six events in the two-day competition.
She topped the 50-meter backstroke, 50m and 100m breaststroke, 100m swimmers choice of butterfly and freestyle, 50m butterfly and 50m freestyle events.
With this, Garrido was named the Most Outstanding Swimmer of the entire competition.
In the 9-10 years old category, SHS-AdC’s very own Val Andre Chu went home with one gold medal, two silvers and two bronze medals.
He lorded the 50-m freestyle while finished second in the 50m breast and butterfly and third place in the 50m backstroke and 100m swimmers choice category.
Garrido and Chu are members of the elite swimming team the Cebu Blue Marlins under the tutelage of veteran swimming coach Lando Alvarez.
More than a dozen young swimmers took part in the competition .
