MANILA, Philippines-Two senators were mum over the Cabinet posts being offered them by President Benigno Aquino III but one has at least acknowledged that his job description is already being fine-tuned by Malacañang.
“We still have to discuss details and finalize,” Senator Francis Pangilinan said in a solicited text message.
“We are thankful for the President’s trust and confidence,” he added.
Pangilinan, one of the five outgoing senators whose terms will end this week, is incumbent chair of the Senate agriculture committee.
Insiders believe Pangilinan’s new position would be connected to his committee chairmanship.
As it is, Pangilinan’s supposed love of farming was highlighted recently in print and broadcast media and online feature stories.
Sen. Panfilo Lacson, mentioned as the other outgoing senator being groomed for a Cabinet post, has not given a statement as of Monday.
Apart from Pangilinan and Lacson, other outgoing senators include Edgardo Angara, Joker Arroyo and Manny Villar.
