MANILA, Philippines–Philippine Airlines is seeking the kind understanding of its passengers for the cancellation of its flights to and from Davao Monday as a result of an incident involving a Cebu Pacific aircraft, which overshot the runway of Davao International Airport on Sunday night.
To address the situation, PAL has upgraded to a wide-bodied aircraft for its General Santos – Manila flight at 4 p.m. Monday, in order to accommodate passengers from Davao who are willing to be re-routed to General Santos.
PAL is advising affected passengers to get in touch with the airline’s representative in Davao, Branch Manager Andy Mandanas or Supervisor Ephraim Fernandez, with office numbers (082)234-0073 local 2728) and signify their willingness to take the Gen Santos route going to Manila. PAL will take care of the land transfer from Davao to Gen San using air-conditioned buses. All rebooking fees for the affected flights are being waived. PAL will also provide food and drinks for affected passengers.
Based on the latest advisory from the Civil Aviation Authority, the Francisco Bangoy International Airport or Davao (DVO) International Airport is scheduled to re-open at 8:00 p.m. Monday, at which time PAL flights to Davao will resume.
Since the closure of the airport at 7:00 pm Sunday, June 2, PAL has been forced to cancel 9 flights while PAL Express has cancelled 2 as the Cebu Pacific aircraft has obstructed the runway. INQUIRER.net
