MANILA, Philippines – A 5.7 magnitude earthquake hit North Cotabato anew early Monday, two days after it jolted many parts of Mindanao.
The tectonic quake was recorded at 4:08 a.m., with an epicenter 17 kilometers northwest of Carmen, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
The quake had a depth of 3 kilometers.
Intensity VI was felt in Carmen (North Cotabato); Intensity V in Kabacan (North Cotabato); Intensity IV in Matalam (North Cotabato); Intensity III in Kidapawan City; Cagayan de Oro City; Davao City; Pres. Roxas, Arakan, Magpet & Makilala (North Cotabato); Cotabato City; Intensity II – Koronadal (South Cotabato); Quezon, Maramag , Valencia & Don Carlos (Bukidnon); Misamis Oriental; Intensity I in Gen. Santos City; Butuan City were recorded by Phivolcs.
Damages and aftershocks were expected from the quake.
On Saturday night, a 5.7 magnitude quake also hit North Cotabato and with reported intensities in many parts of Mindanao. At least eight persons were reported hurt.
