CEBU got a big boost in the last day of the POC-PSC Philippine National Games 2013 after its dancesports and beach volleyball teams finished with a bang in Manila.
The Cebu City Dancesports team bagged 12 gold medals, two silvers and two bronze medals late Saturday night at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City while Cebu City’s men’s and women’s beach volley ball teams lorded over the competition yesterday at the University of the East courts in Caloocan City.
In dancesports, Jeffrey Benarao and Mary Mae Canillo dominated the youth latin categories A, B, C and D while Zjiane Troy and Zjiana Tracy Villarta finished with three gold medals in the standard youth division.
David Unabia and Eleanor Hayco won the gold medal in the Standard Senior B event. Hayco finished off with another two gold medals after she paired up with Wilbert Aunzo to win the standard event four dance category and the standard event five latin event.
Romeo Jay Cialbo and May Pabuaya captured two gold medals in the Novice & Standard Event one dance standard category to complete the dominance of the Cebuanos.
In the beach volley ball event, Cebu City’s multi-titled tandem of Jonrey Sasing and Edward Ybanez defeated fellow Cebuanos Mike Abria and Jade Becaldo of Mandaue City, 21-15,21-13, for the gold medal.
In the women’s division, teams from Cebu City faced off in the finals with Jusabelle Brillo and Apple Saraum beating Raphril Aguilar and Suzette Panis. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
