MANILA, Philippines — Authorities are hunting down the man who shot a Pasay City village chairman Wednesday night, a police spokesperson told INQUIRER.net Thursday.
Jethro Balais, chairman of Barangay (village) 37 was at a basketball tournament past 10 p.m. in Leveriza St. corner Buendia, Wednesday when a gunman shot him and fled, Southern Police District’s Chief Inspector Jenny Tecson said.
Citing statements from witnesses, Tecson said the suspect wore a baseball cap and was armed with a revolver.
Balais, Tecson said, was rushed to the Manila Sanitarium Hospital in Pasay and was now in stable condition.
An investigation is underway to determine the identity and motive of the suspect, Tecson said.
