Traffic teams ready for school opening

From May 31 up to June 19 when students are expected to return to Metro Manila from the provinces, operators of the Skyway System and South Luzon Expressways (SLEx) have prepared contingencies for the expected buildup of vehicles at the entry and exit points of the two toll ways.

Skyway O&M Corp. (Somco) and Manila Toll Expressway Systems Inc. (Mates), operators of the Skyway System and SLEx, respectively, will closely coordinate with local police units and the Highway Patrol Group of the Philippine National Police,  Land Transportation Office, concerned local government units and other support groups like BFP-EMS, Lifeline Rescue and AAP Towing Services.

Under the transportation department’s “Oplan Ligtas Biyahe: Balik Eskwela,” Toll Regulatory Board personnel will be assigned to  monitor traffic safety operations on the expressways and help in the handling of road incidents. For emergencies, suggestions or  assistance, motorists may call the Somco hotline at 776-7777 or Mates at 0917-6877539.
