The Kapwa Ko, Mahal Ko Foundation Inc. – Cebu conducted an optical mission and blood diagnostic services in Caohagan Island last July 30.
Two hundred and nine patients received free eye refraction and reading glasses, blood typing and random blood sugar testing.
The services were provided by volunteers from Southwestern University–College of Optometry, Cebu Blood Donor’s Society and Kapwa foundation.
The Regional Emergency Assistance Communications Team (React) Philippines Inc. and Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary 202nd Squadron, Mactan also joined the activity.
Caohagan is a secluded island off the coast of Lapu-Lapu City.
The activity was a project of St. Alphonsus Catholic School Lapu-Lapu batch 1977 led by its president, Maria Socorro Clemente-Camiso.
It was also sponsored by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in Central Visayas headed by its director, Ahmed Cuizon.
The foundation continues to serve the less privileged individuals with the support of its benefactors — Alpa Foundation Inc., Cebu City government, Simon Enterprises, International Pharmaceuticals Inc., GMA Network, JEG Development Corp., SM City Cebu, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office and Philippine Amusement Gaming Corp.
