Global FC U-15 team eyes first win versus Myanmar

THE Global FC Philippine U-15 hopes to rack up its first win when it faces Myanmar Mandalay FA in the cash-rich Football Association of Malaysia (FAM)-Frenz U-15 ASEAN Champions Trophy 2013 this afternoon at the Aung San Memorial Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar.

The team, mostly manned by former members of the Little Azkals, left for Myanmar yesterday morning along with head coach Andres “Anto” Gonzales.

Both teams are looking for their first win after dropping their opening matches last Saturday.

Myanmar Mandalay FA bowed to Frenz United Indonesia, 0-3, despite playing at home while the Global FC Philippine U-15 lost, 0-3, against Frenz Malaysia B here at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Despite the loss last Saturday, Gonzales said that he believes the team can play better in their next matches.

He added that the team’s performance last week was affected by the short preparation that they were afforded prior to the start of the tournament.

The champion team will go home with $50,000 with the first runner-up getting $25,000. The third and fourth placers will get $10,000 and $5,000, respectively. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
