9 soldiers hurt in Bukidnon road crash

MANILA, Philippines – Nine soldiers were injured when the military truck they were riding slammed into a center island in Bukidnon before dawn Thursday as it tried to avoid hitting a motorcycle, police said.

Senior Police Officer 2 Ruel Sapanta said the injured soldiers were cruising along Sayre Highway, North Poblacion in Maramag, Bukidnon around 2:30 a.m. when a motorcycle travelling at the opposite lane swerved and almost hit the 6×6 military truck.

“Iniwasan ng military truck yung motor (The military truck avoided the motorcycle),” he said, causing it to hit the center island.

Sapanta said nine members of the 8^th Infantry Division—a corporal and eight private first class—were injured and were taken to the nearest hospital.
