5 soldiers hit by lightning in Sultan Kudarat
GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Philippines – Five soldiers of the Philippine Army’s 16th Field Artillery Battalion based in Bagumbayan in Sultan Kudarat were rushed to a hospital after lightning struck them around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
Colonel Dickson Hermoso, spokesperson of the 6th Infantry Division, said the soldiers were inside camp when the incident happened during a heavy downpour.
A bolt of lightning first hit the camp’s two-way radio antenna of the Army headquarters then the five victims.
They sustained varying degrees of injuries but were declared safe while undergoing treatment at the Sultan Kudarat Provincial Hospital.
