SCAVENGER FOUND DEAD

A SCAVENGER was found dead by another scavenger in barangay Looc, Mandaue City.

The fatality was identified only as as a certain Tolindoy.

Walter Wabe, 45, told police that he saw Tolindoy trembling while sitting on the pavement in front of CBX building in Plaridel Sreet around 9 a.m. yesterday.

When he checked on Tolindoy, Wabe said Tolindoy complained that he was thirsty and asked for some water.

Wabe left to get water. He returned an hour later but Tolindoy was already pale and unconscious.

Paramedics from the Accident Control and Emergency Rescue Team (Acert) tried to revive the victim to no avail.

The body will be autopsied to determine the cause of death, police said./REPORTER JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS

MAN SHOT AT HOME

A 21-YEAR-OLD man was critically wounded after he was shot by his neighbors in barangay Suba, Cebu City.

Warlito Laborte sustained gunshot wounds in the stomach and hand.

The suspects, Daniel Ongcol, 29 and Arnel Gomez, 36, were arrested by police in a follow-up operation.

Police said a personal grudge was the motive of the attack.

Police said the victim was walking toward a toilet outside of his house when he was attacked past 8 a.m. yesterday.

The victim was taken to the Cebu City Medical Center.

During the arrest, a 9mm caliber pistol was recovered from the possession of Gomez, said SPO1 Victor Ayuman, homicide investigator of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).

Police said no gun was recovered from Ongcol as he was able to throw it before they were cornered.

Charges for frustrated murder and illegal possession of firearms will be filed against the suspects who were detained at the San Nicolas police station.

Police said Gomez is a suspected gun-for-hire.

Gomez was arrested at a checkpoint on March last year where firearms were seized from his possession.

Gomez was tagged as a suspect in the killing of a couple in Lapu-Lapu City a month before he was arrested, police said./Correspondent Joy Cherry S. Quito
