Quota club holds Santacruzan
The Quota International of Cebu held its major fund-raising activity, the “Santacruzan” coronation, last Sunday at the Casino Español de Cebu.
The activity kicked off with a Mass at the Sacred Heart church.
Maria Teresa Guevara Taylor from Arlington, Virginia was crowned Reina Emperatriz, Quota past president Ma. Luisa Veloso as Reina Elena and Jacob Matt Calderon Balankig as Emperador Constantino.
This year’s zagalas were Sophi Nouel Tan as Reina del Santacruzan, Anna Rita dela Torre as Reina delas Flores, Rhenelyn Chanthavisouk as Reina delos Angeles and Rouela Turno as Reina del Cielo.
PLDT Community Relations manager Evelyn del Rosario, last year’s Reina Emperatriz, handed over her crown to Taylor. She was assisted by Consul of Spain Emeritus Jaime Picornell.
Governor Connie Garcia of Quota District 41, whose mother club is Quota International of Cebu, was the guest speaker. Garcia holds the distinction of being the first District Governor from the Visayas.
Leading the preparations for the Santacruzan were club president Maria Victoria Calderon and Elisa Estenzo Torres, chairperson of the event.
Major sponsors were La Filipina Uy Gongco Corporation, Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) and Dunkin Donuts.
