The late Fernando Ma. Guerrero, who was born 140 years ago today (May 30), was called the “Prince of Philippine Lyric Poetry.” The representative of the southern district of Manila to the first Philippine Assembly, Guerrero also came from a family of talented artists. He was the son of renowned painter Lorenzo Guerrero, brother of writer Manuel Guerrero, nephew of poet laureate Corinta Ramirez, and uncle of playwright-director Wilfrido Ma. Guerrero, and essayists and fictionists Leon Ma. Guerrero III and Carmen Guerrero-Nakpil. Schatzi Quodala, Inquirer Research
