Mandaluyong fire displaces 100 families
MANILA, Philippines–Roughly 100 families were displaced when fire gutted a residential block in Mandaluyong City Tuesday evening, a Bureau of Fire Protection-National Capital Region officer said.
Senior Fire Officer 1 Louie Abenales said fire razed over 30 houses at Abelas Compound in Barangay (village) Mabini J. Rizal in Mandaluyong City at around 9:10 p.m.
The fire was raised to the third alarm before it was put out at 10:19 p.m.
It destroyed roughly P500,000 worth of properties.
A radio report quoted Mandaluyong City Fire Marshall Nahum Tarosa as saying that the fire may have started from a house occupied by one Corazon Ladrera.
It also said that a that a lighted candle left unattended may have caused the blaze.
