A-Plus Weather Paint ventures into the sporting world as it organizes its first-ever A-Plus All Weather Paint Cebu Fun Run on June 9 at The Terraces, Ayala Center Cebu.
The fun run, which features 10-kilometer, 5k and 3k distances, offers P80,000 worth of cash prizes to winners.
“This is the first time that we are holding a fun run,” A-Plus Weather Paint’s Visayas-Mindanao Operations Head Pepito Lim. “In Manila, we already organized events not related to sports. But we decided to stage this kind of event because we want to make our charity works grander so that we can help our beneficiary more.”
Part of the race’s proceeds will go to the Asilo dela Milagrosa orphanage.
A-Plus Weather Paint has also been doing outreach programs in Cebu for several years. The company has conducted several medical and dental missions and donated paints to various public schools and churches. It also supports orphanage houses.
“We are very grateful to A-Plus All Weather because they help us with our needs,” said Sister Myra Mondia of Asilo dela Milagrosa Orphanage. “We were very surprised they chose us again as their beneficiary this year.”
Lim said the inaugural year of the fun run in Cebu is important because they are planning to hold another one in Mindanao later this year.
Despite going head-to-head with the first Philconstruct Industry Run at the South Road Properties on the same day, organizers are optimistic they will be able to come up with a good number of participants.
“We don’t want to compete against the other fun runs because we don’t want to ruin our good relationship with the three organizations who are organizing the other race—the Cebu Contractors Association (CCA), the Philippine Constructors Association (PCA) and the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE)—who are also our clients and good friends,” added Lim.
The running event was launched yesterday at the Lewis function room of the Quest Hotel. Aside from Lim, also present were race director Joel Baring of Sports and Fitness Enthusiasts (SAFE) and IRC Timing System’s Elmer Canque.
A-Plus All Weather Paint is one of the leading products of the FH Colors and Coatings Corporation, which is a Filipino paint company.
The 10k champion will bring home P5,000, the 5k winner gets P3,000, while 3k champion wins P1,000. Winners will also be given specially designed medals.
Registration can be done at the RUNNR Ayala Center Cebu and at the Cebu Home Builders Depot branches in Mactan and Banilad. Registration fee is pegged at P350 but there will be a special discounted fee for students. Deadline of registration will be on June 8.
