Today, August 15, is the 83rd birth anniversary of the late National Artist for Architecture Leandro V. Locsin. The first chairman of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, he produced more than 70 residences and 80 buildings, including churches, chapels, commercial buildings, hotels and an airport terminal. His popular works include the Chapel of the Holy Sacrifice on the UP Diliman campus and the Cultural Center of the Philippines complex. He was named National Artist for Architecture in 1990.—Schatzi Quodala, Inquirer Research
