THE SAN BEDA Red Lions established their defensive identity in the second half and clamped down on the St. Benilde Blazers to come away victorious, 74-58, in the 2013 Filoil Flying V Hanes Preseason Cup yesterday at the Arena in San Juan City.
Francis Abarcar showed vast improvements to his game as the sophomore led the Red Lions with 22 points while Baser Amer had 15 markers.
Guard Ryusei Koga and African import Ola Adeogun added 10 each as the Red Lions improved to 5-2 (win-loss) in Group A action.
The win also allowed them to get back on the winning track after getting upset by the Arellano University Chiefs last week, 66-67.
San Beda is currently seeded third in their group behind the Chiefs and just ahead of the Adamson Falcons with the playoffs looming on the horizon./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
