DAVAO CITY, Philippines–Almost two weeks after the national midterm elections, a municipal coordinator of Anakpawis partylist group was gunned down in Mawab town in Compostela Valley last Saturday morning.
Human rights group Karapatan Southern Mindanao said 43-year old Eddie Cañon was shot dead by unidentified armed men in Barangay (village) Nuevo Iloco at around 8 a.m. Saturday.
The victim sustained 13 gunshot wounds in his head and body, Karapatan said.
