Police identify missing female Banahaw trekker

LUCENA CITY, Philippines – Police have identified the woman who was officially reported missing on Mt. Banahaw since Sunday.

Inspector Alejandro Onquit, Dolores police chief, identified her as one Niña Sibolboro Gacutan, 27, a call center agent and resident of Quiapo, Manila.

Onquit said the search for Gacutan is ongoing.

The fate of Gacutan was reported to Dolores police station on Sunday afternoon by her two fellow trekkers, Artemio Lago and Noel Ong.

Lago and Ong told police Gacutan got lost on Saturday morning while they were on their way down from Durungawan crater atop the mountain.

The two said they searched for Gacutan until Saturday evening but failed to find her.

The three climbed Banahaw last Thursday and were guided by a certain Roberto Viaro, a “mountaineer/resident” of San Pablo City, police said.
