THE ARELLANO University Chiefs routed the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers, 83-67, in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Preseason Cup yesterday at the Arena in San Juan City.
The Chiefs put on a defensive blanket over the Bombers in the first canto and limited them to just five points to build a 20-point cushion, one that held until the end.
The win was their sixth in eight games to assure themselves of a quarterfinal berth in Group A.
Underscoring their desire to make it to elite status in the NCAA, the Chiefs are now 4-0 (win-loss) against their rivals in that league including a 77-76 win over defending champions San Beda last Friday. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
