3 killed in Sultan Kudarat landslide

GENERAL SANTOS City, Philippines—Three persons were reported killed while 100 residents were displaced when a landslide hit the remote Purok 10 in the village of Kinayao in Bagumbayan town, Sultan Kudarat, late Friday.

Bagumbayan Mayor Bernardita Bito-onon, in a radio interview, identified the victims as Teresita Albanses, 49; her nine-year old daughter Daisy; and a certain Kristin Olivar, 3.

The three fatalities were buried deep by the landslide.

Bito-onon claimed she had already dispatched the social workers to the affected area to distribute rice and other food assistance to other residents displaced in the disaster.
