A former security officer was arrested by the Manila police for driving a vehicle that was earlier reported stolen.

Gil Emerenciana was apprehended in front of Pegasus Bar on Quezon Avenue in Quezon City around 6 p.m. Friday for driving a red Isuzu Crosswind (XDE 377), which was reported stolen on Oct. 21, 2012, from the parking area of Harbor Square, CCP Complex.

Emerenciana was then working for Edcor Security Agency and was assigned at the CCP, said SPO1 Edgar Julian of the Manila Police District’s anticar-theft section.

In his defense, Emerenciana said the security agency’s owner ordered him to get the Crosswind from the parking area of Royal Plaza in Malate in March.

He was then told to have the car fixed, for which he spent P20,000 from his own pocket.

When the owner failed to pay him, he refused to turn over the vehicle and for this he was fired, he claimed. Erika Sauler
