Palace: Tourists’ tales trump Dan Brown fiction

Malacañang on Friday joined the heated discussion on Dan Brown’s description of Manila as “the gates of hell” in his latest novel “Inferno.”

Testimonials from real visitors to the city could easily trump one coming from a fictional character, said deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte. “We trust that readers will give more weight to the testimonials of real people who have enjoyed their stay here in our beautiful country over the experiences of a fictional character (whose) narrative is written for maximum effect,” Valte said.

MMDA Chair Francis Tolentino on Thursday invited Brown to visit Manila and discover that “our place is an entry to heaven.” Norman Bordadora
