MANILA, Philippines – Two militiamen abducted by the New People’s Army have been released in Surigao del Sur, the military said.
Ronald Isaga and Noel Martinez of the Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit were released Thursday about 12 noon in Sitio (sub-village) Mantuyom, San Roque in Bislig City, Major Leo Bongosia, Army’s 4th Infantry Division spokesman, said in a text message Friday.
The two were abducted by communist rebels in last April 26 in Sitio Mabog, also in San Roque, Bislig City.
Bongosia said the two were released after suspension of military operations in Rosario, Agusan del Sur and Bislig, Surigao del Sur from Sunday until Thursday, as requested by the rebels.
