Young suspends demolition in Apas
AFTER stopping clearing operations at the fire site in sitio Bato, barangay Ermita, acting Mayor Joy Augustus Young suspended the demolition of a stage owned by a homeowners group in sitio Mahayahay, barangay Apas in Cebu City.
“The consent of the homeowners must be secured along with a permit from the Capitol,” Young said.
He said there was no court order for the demolition.
The stage in sitio Mahayahay near a basketball court was owned by an urban poor group in Apas. Apas barangay captain Ramil Ayuman said the stage will be moved below a community day care center.
“The (removal of the stage) has the consent of the provincial government which owns the land where the stage stands,” Ayuman said.
He said Pepito Fuello, president of the sitio Mahayahay Homeowners Group with the Daycare Teachers Association, pushed for the project. Ayuman said the urban poor group supported the project and wondered why they are opposing it now. CNU Intern Nice Ann Teleron
