CEBU CITY — The body of a still unidentified woman was dumped into a cliff by two men early Thursday along the Transcentral Highway in Balamban town, about 64 kilometers west of this city.

The woman, believed to be in her mid-20s with blond hair and fair complexion, had what appeared to be a gunshot wound on her left chest.

Half of her body was covered by an overall with the name of the National Power Corp. (Napocor) and a power barge printed at the back, said Senior Police Officer 1 Rolando Navarro of Balamban police station. He said also printed at the back was the name “Neri A.D.”

Navarro said the woman’s body was found on the edge of the cliff in Sitio (sub-village) Curos-curos, Barangay (village) Cansumoroy in Balamban after a tree prevented the body from falling all the way to the foot of the cliff.

The site was the same area where a tourist bus fell off the cliff, killing several of its passengers who were mostly Iranian students.

A driver of an L300 van-for-hire told the police that he was passing by the area when he noticed two men disembarked from a gray Toyota Hilux and dragged the body.

The two men dropped the body beside the road and pretended to urinate when the van passed by, the driver said.

The driver immediately went to a barangay councilor to report what he saw. The councilor, in turn, informed Municipal councilor Elizer Climaco who alerted the police at 11:55 a.m.

Policemen from the Regional Public Safety Battalion also went to the site after the driver had informed them.
