The National Capital Region posted the highest number of index crimes (murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery and theft) among the country’s regions in January. During that month, there were more than 5,000 crimes against persons and property in Metro Manila or about 20 percent of the nearly 25,000 recorded index crimes nationwide.
