MANILA, Philippines–Newly-proclaimed Camarines Sur representative, Leni Robredo, paid a visit to the House of Representatives on Wednesday.

Robredo, who won over Camarines Sur’s third congressional district with 71,330 votes against Nelly Favis-Villafuerte’s 31,364, met with House secretary general Marilyn Barua-Yap.

The wife of the late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo told reporters that she spoke with Yap about preparations for her office in the 16th Congress.

Robredo sought to start head-hunting for staff and said she asked the House secretary-general how many she was entitled to.

“If I want to work really hard I have to choose the right people,” she said.

Robredo said she wanted to pursue the same initiatives that her late husband fought for when he was serving the government, including the efficient delivery of basic services by local government units.

“I really plan to work hard,” she said.
