Mild, moderate quakes hit parts of PH—Phivolcs

MANILA, Philippines — Mild and moderate earthquakes hit parts of the Philippines Wednesday but no damages were reported, state volcanologists said.

At 3:02 a.m., a 3.6 magnitude quake hit 29 kilometers northeast of Sanchez Mira, Cagayan, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported.

It had a depth of 82 kilometers and was tectonic in origin.

Also, a 2.9 magnitude quake was recorded at 4:23 a.m., 56 kilometers southeast of Don Marcelino in Davao del Sur. It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 68 kilometers.

At 4:59 a.m., a tectonic quake with a magnitude of 4.7 hit 47 kilometers southwest of Sipalay, Negros Occidental. It had a depth of 39 kilometers.

In Davao Oriental, a 3.1 magnitude quake shook 49 kilometers southeast of Governor Generoso at 5:41 a.m. , which had a depth of 29 kilometers and was tectonic in origin.

Meanwhile, in Davao del Sur, a 3.6 magnitude tectonic quake was recorded at 5:57 a.m., 115 kilometers southeast of Sarangani. It had a depth of 75 kilometers.

No aftershocks were expected from these quakes, Phivolcs said.
