USC rips AdC for Ladies Open title

The University of San Carlos (USC) lady booters reaffirmed their dominance over the Ateneo de Cebu (AdC) as they beat the Magis Eagles, 4-0, to take the crown in the Ladies Open of the Cebu Amateur Football Club’s (CAFC) 13th Cebu Inter-Club Football Cup at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

Just like in their first meeting, USC once again routed AdC, 4-0, but this time with the title at stake. USC beat the same team, 4-0, last Monday to keep its record unblemished and take the top spot in the division.

USC’s Maritoni Trebol got past AdC’s defense with a goal in the 10th minute. AdC handed USC a gift after its defense scored an own goal in the 20th minute.

The Lady Warriors scored another goal via Jana Gerodiese nine minutes later to give USC a 3-0 lead going into the halftime.

In the second half, USC once again scored an early goal through Chicay Romualdez in the 51st minute.

AdC never managed to score a goal until the end the match.

In the Men’s Open, two-time defending champion Hiroshi FC assured itself of a semifinals entry despite having one remaining elimination game against the Mactan Camellanz.

Hiroshi FC still remains on top of the leaderboard in Group B after a 13-0 annihilation of CAFC at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).

The defending champions now have 10 points after three wins and one draw.

Karl Arcenas was the star of the match after scoring five of Hiroshi FC’s 13 goals. Rodney Gandionco, Joshua Fegidero and John Flores each contributed two goals while Roy Melgo and Gino Palomo scored one goal apiece.

The loss dropped CAFC to the fourth spot with University of Cebu (UC)/Nigeria blanking Samba FC, 2-0, to take over the third spot with six points following two wins and one loss.

Despite the loss, Samba held on to the second spot with seven points, coming off two wins, one draw and one loss.

In Group A, Cebu Queen City United (CQCU) FC dished out another powerful performance with a 17-0 demolition of Hijos del Pueblo.

Junard Aguilar led the scoring spree with five goals all in the second half, while Samson Olaniyi had three in the first half. Adding two goals each were Jade Paghubasan and Ariel Cahilig. The rest of the goals were scored by Dan Marnel Villarico, Tom Booth, Joseph Rodriguez and Rommel Cuizon.

CQCU FC is still unbeaten to remain in the top spot with nine points.

San Roque Rehab (SRR) replaced ERCO FC in the second spot with a 2-0 edging of the latter.

In the U11 back at the Aboitiz Sports Field, Dynamo FC and USC-BED will face each other for the title today after surviving their semifinals opponents yesterday.

Dynamo FC, who topped bracket A, advanced to the finals with a 3-1 outsmarting of Lahug Elementary School while USC-BED, who ruled bracket B, earned a finals entry with a 3-0 routing of Canduman.
