Two brothers nabbed in Guadalupe drug raid

Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation in Central Visayas (NBI) raided two houses in barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City yesterday and arrested two brothers for allegedly keeping illegal drugs inside their houses.

Arman Cavan, 42; and his brother Michael, 35, will be facing charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, particularly for possession of illegal drugs and paraphernalia.

Confiscated from the suspects were four big packs and 12 small sachets containing white powder believed to be shabu, several lighters, a tooter, and a weighing scale.

NBI Regional Director Antonio Pagatpat said the white powder taken from the suspects would be examined in the laboratory to determine if it’s an illegal drug.

The NBI agents and Philippine Navy’s Special Warfare Group (SWAG) barged into the two houses of the suspects at past 6 a.m. yesterday.

They brought with them a search warrant issued by Cebu City Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Silvestre Maamo.

Dela Cruz said they conducted surveillance operations at the area for almost three months.

He said the suspects were reportedly delivering illegal drugs to customers in barangays Guadalupe and Capitol Site.

“We will investigate where the illegal drugs actually came from,” Dela Cruz said.

The suspects refused to issue any statement to the media.

They are presently detained at the NBI-7 stockade pending the filing of charges against them before the Cebu City Prosecutors’ Office.
