COMPETITION is expected to be fierce as the big guns of Philippine golf such as Juvic Pagunsan, Jay Bayron and Tony Lascuna have signed up for the ICTSI Orchard Golf Championship, which tees off tomorrow at the at the Orchard’s Palmer Course in Dasmariñas, Cavite.
Pagunsan, a mainstay on the PGA Japan Tour, actually competed in the Calatagan leg of the local tour two weeks ago and is bent on improving his third place finish in that competition and log his first victory in the circuit in two years.
The 2011 ICTSI PGT Order of Merit champion vied in just six of the 15 tournaments here last year but had an impressive campaign in Japan, where he finished runner-up in the Japan Open and placed in the top 10 in two other events.
He will be facing the toughest challenge so far in the early going of the local circuit./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
