Businesswoman shot dead in Batangas

BATANGAS CITY, Batangas, Philippines — A 47-year-old businesswoman was shot dead while walking along the national highway in Bauan town in Batangas Monday morning.

Senior Superintendent Rosauro Acio, Batangas police director, said Cleopaz Clarete, 47, was walking along the national highway, in Barangay (village) Manghinao 1, Bauan at 9:45 a.m., when shot by unidentified gunmen on board a motorcycle.

Acio said Clarete was in a lending business but police have not established if her killing was related to her business.
