/ 09:27 PM May 19, 2013

The Quezon City government has embarked on a P144.4-million city-wide flood mitigating project which involves clearing waterways and constructing “defensive walls” to protect low-lying communities from creek or river overflows.

Around P10.177 million of the total project cost was used for cleanup of the Kalamiong Creek while a defensive wall is being constructed along Tullahan River.

Other waterways covered by the city’s flood control program are the Pasong Tamo creek, the Culiat creek, the San Francisco river, the San Juan river and Marikina river. Jeannette I. Andrade
