A Makati City street beckons to art lovers this weekend.
The city government is closing a lane of Nicanor Garcia Street (formerly known as Reposo) for an art fair dubbed “Sining Kalikasan sa Reposo,” which will run this Saturday and Sunday as part of the celebrations for Makati’s 343rd foundation anniversary.
The fair will feature exhibits, performances by world renowned artists, as well as art workshops and lectures by Grupo Reposo, according to Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay Jr.
“Grupo Reposo has prepared a multi-faceted lineup of art activities for the enjoyment of visitors. We invite families to visit the fair and delight in the performances of artists and learn useful tips and skills from renowned artists for free,” Binay said in a statement Friday.
The group is a nonprofit organization composed of artists and gallery owners based at LRI Design Plaza and other establishments on Nicanor Garcia Street.
The fair opens this Saturday with dance performances at 9:30 a.m. Visitors may also check out a furniture expo and a street bazaar, and later enjoy a performance by the puppeteer-ventriloquist Wanlu. Among the art works on display is a large painting by Blumentritt Group of Artists.
