MILAN “El Metodico” Melindo (28-0, 12 KOs) of the ALA Gym has started his rigid training in preparation for his upcoming world title challenge against WBO flyweight champion Juan Francisco ‘El Gallo’ Estrada of Mexico.
Melindo will face Estrada in Macau on July 27. The unbeaten Melindo already met Estrada (23W-2L, 18 KOs) when they shook hands and posed for photos after the post fight press conference in Macau last April where Estrada snatched Brian Viloria’s WBO title.
Melindo fought in the undercard and scored an impressive 4th round knockout win against Tommy Seran of Indonesia. This sealed the deal for his long awaited world title shot.
Melindo is now in the second week of the conditioning phase of his preparations and has not begun heavy sparring yet. /Correspondent Rene Bonsubre Jr.
