Fidel David Ubac Sr. dies at 93

Fidel David Ubac Sr. passed away on May 14 in Masbate City. He was 93.

He served as Masbate chief of police and later deputy provincial director for administration from late 50s to early 80s and received numerous citations and awards, including a long service medal from then Philippine Constabulary/Integrated National Police Chief Fidel V. Ramos.

He entered politics after retirement and became a barangay captain during which he championed the Barangay Justice System under the Local Government Code and instituted daycare centers.

He was married to the late Gloria Maristela Magallanes, a sister of the late Benjamin Magallanes who served as mayor of Masbate for over 20 years.

Fidel Sr. is survived by children Benjamin, Myrna, Fidel Jr., Romeo, Jerry, Nida and Amor; 40 grandchildren; and sisters Maring, Ingga and Dading.

A necrological service will be held at the Philippine National Police chapel in Masbate City on May 24. Interment is set on May 25.
