Falcons hold off Bombers in FilOil Flying V caging

The Adamson Soaring Falcons held steady on the defensive end of the floor during crunchtime and limited the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers to just 10 points in the entire fourth period to hack out a, 69-65 win in the 2013 Filoil Flying V Hanes Preseason Cup yesterday at the Arena in San Juan City.

With a six-point, 49-55, deficit staring them in the face, the Falcons buckled down on defense to pull off their second win in four games in Group A. Wingman Jericho Cruz paced the squad with 24 points while power forward Rodney Brondial had a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards.

Philip Paniamogan had 18 to lead JRU which seemingly had control of the game up until that miserable final stanza. It suffered its fourth loss in five games.

In other games, the St. Benilde Blazers scored their second win in a row after outlasting the Perpetual Help Altas, 78-74. Paolo Taha had 16 markers while Mark Romero tallied 13 for the Blazers which improved to 2-3 (win-loss) while leaving the Altas with a 1-4 card.  /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
