Ateneo, Adamson tossers gun for semifinals sweep

The belles of Ateneo and Adamson aim to seal a championship showdown today as they gun for sweeps of their respective semifinals series in the Shakey’s V-League at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The finals remain a win away for the Lady Eagles and the Lady Falcons especially after their thrilling come-from-behind victories in the series openers the other day.

Ateneo defeated the University of Santo Tomas Tigresses, 20-25, 25-16, 29-27, 25-14 while Adamson beat the National University Lady Bulldogs, 22-25, 25-18, 25-19, 22-25, 15-13.

Should Ateneo and Adamson win, it will be the third time that they will be meeting in the finals. Adamson won the match-up back in the first conference of 2008 while Ateneo returned the favor in their clash in the 2011 first conference.

A pair of reversals, however, will pave the way for two sudden deaths with the decider to be played back at the Philsports Arena on Sunday.  /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
