MANILA, Philippines—Even the Binays and the Estradas could not stop the Grace Poe juggernaut.
Neither Nancy Binay, daughter of Vice President Jejomar Binay, nor JV Ejercito, son of former President Joseph Estrada, topped the senatorial race in each of their presumed bailiwicks in the cities of Makati and San Juan, respectively, based on partial official results released Wednesday by the Commission on Elections.
Grace Poe, a daughter of the late actor Fernando Poe Jr., was No. 1 in the two cities, snagging 166,987 votes of the Makati votes, and 32,120 in San Juan.
In Makati, Nancy Binay was No. 3 (165,666), behind No. 2, former Sen. Richard Gordon (166,176).
In San Juan, Ejercito was a close second to Poe with 30,870, followed by Gordon with 28,785 votes.—DJ Yap
