Driver killed, one injured in vehicular accident in Quezon

MANILA, Philippines – One died and another was seriously injured in a vehicular accident in Quezon Saturday morning, a police official said.

The victims were identified as William Tallud, who died on the spot, and his wife Roxilda, said Chief Superintendent Leonardo Espina, Highway Patrol Group director.

Initial investigation showed that Tallud was driving a mini-dump truck with plate number PPW 183 that collided with a Supreme bus with plate number DWA 521 driven by one Armando Patasin at around 5:30 a.m.

The bus, with eight passengers on board, was going southbound towards Lucena City when Tallud’s truck coming from the opposite direction overtook the vehicle in front of it, subsequently encroaching on the lane of the oncoming bus, Espina said.

Roxilda Tallud was brought to the Candelaria Doctors Hospital, said Espina.

None of the passengers of the bus was injured, he said.
