The Basadours, a dynamic group of volunteer ambassadors for reading and storytelling, are taking a step towards bringing together all reading and storytelling advocates in “Storytelling 101: A Storytelling Training.”
Storytelling 101 will be conducted by Lorna Eguia, a master storyteller and librarian with more than a decade of experience in reading stories to children of all ages. She is also the librarian of the American Corner Library and the School of Business and Economics Library of the University of San Carlos.
Eguia will give participants an overview of the storytelling process as well as tips and strategies on how to be an effective storyteller.
The training will explore the benefits of storytelling and is designed for storytellers, teachers, parents, children, librarians, book lovers, reading advocates and anyone who needs to acquire skills to help improve their storytelling methods and build confidence in hosting a storytelling session.
After the training, participants will get to exhibit what they have learned in a storytelling demonstration.
Storytelling 101 is happening on May 18 at the Cebu City Public Library (CCPL), from 8:30 a.m. to noon. It is free of charge and open to the public.
