Social workers taught skills to manage protocol on rescue operations

More than 40 social workers and service providers from the government and non-government organizations in Central Visayas were gathered by the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD) last week to educate them on the modified social stress model (MSSM) in managing children in need of social protection and the basic protocol  on rescue operations as well as get an update on the different laws for social protection programs, such as like clearance for minors travelling abroad to mitigate human trafficking.

This welfare agency hopes to transfer technology on the use of MSSM to other social workers and service providers from the different centers and institutions operated and maintained by the DSWD, selected local government units and licensed non-government organizations.

Likewise, social workers and other members of intervention team can formulate rehabilitation plan that will address the need of each child.

DSWD’s Social Technology  Bureau had introduced the MSSM as an assessment tool to know the individual needs  of the children and the reasons why children engage in such conditions that are hazardous to their well-being.

The United Nations Children’s Fund or Unicef reported an increase in cases of child abuse, sexual exploitation, child labor in hazardous conditions,  children in armed conflict and children in conflict with the law.
