Comelec suspends canvassing of votes

MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) en banc sitting as the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC) suspended all further proceedings Tuesday night after receiving the Certificates of Canvass (COC) from Navotas and Baguio cities.

“We will suspend all further proceedings until 9 a.m. tomorrow morning to give everyone rest,” Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr. told reporters after convening anew to receive results.

With the COCs from Baguio and Navotas, a total of eight areas have sent their results.

The Comelec is still awaiting about 301 COCs from various parts of the country.

The poll body said that it aims to proclaim all 12 Senators by Wednesday evening, 48 hours after the voting period ended Monday night.
