BINAY
MANILA, Philippines—Incumbent Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Jun-Jun” Binay won a second term in the May 13 midterm elections, beating his opponent by an overwhelming margin.
Binay was proclaimed winner by the Board of Canvassers on Tuesday noon, garnering a total of 224,740 votes. His lone rival, Renato Bondal, got a total of 27505 votes.
The proclamation cemented the 30-year-reign of the Binay family in the country’s financial capital.
The BOC also proclaimed Jun-Jun’s sibling Abigail winner of the congressional seat of Makati’s second district with 117,066 votes and Monique Lagdameo winner in the first district with 92,348 votes.
